Love Letter

As I write this, I have twenty four hours left on the island.  All my people have left, and I'm the last one standing.  It seems like yesterday that we arrived and cannot believe two months have passed.  I still believe someone is playing a calendar trick on me and it can't possibly be August 12th already.  A big part of me is looking forward to getting back to Texas and settling into our yearly routine, but I am extremely sad to be leaving this wonderful state.  I know there are many beautiful places all over the world, but, to me, Hawaii is the best of the best.  So for my last blog post it only seems fitting to compile a list of things that I love here...

1.  I love that this was my view every morning.

2.  I love that this was my view every evening.

3.  I love the trade winds.
4.  I love that every night I slept with the windows open and never got hot.
5.  I love having an apartment that is only 800 square feet, which takes about ten minutes to clean.
6.  I love that geckos eat cockroaches.  Unfortunately, the gecko that lived in our house appeared to be on a diet and didn't eat as many as I would have liked!

7.  I love that our two biggest problems of each day were what bathing suit am I wearing and what beach should we go to.
8.  I love that there were probably only two or three days all summer that we didn't put on our bathing suits.
9.  I love that jumping in the pool took the place of many evening showers for Jaden.
10.  I love walking into a restaurant for dinner and the televisions are set on the surfing channel.
11.  I love that fire trucks carry surfboards.

12.  And boats.

13.  I love that stores use surfboards as signs.

14.  I love watching Jaden surf.

15.  I love walking through Queen Kapiolani park and seeing someone doing yoga.

16.  I love walking down the street and seeing the most beautiful flowers.

















17.  I love rainbows.

18.  I love going to the Hilton when I need to really feel on "vacation".

19.  I love driving down the street and seeing interesting things.

20.  I love hiking in the morning and being at the beach by lunch time.
21.  I love Hawaii hiking attire!

22.  I love that the mountains and the ocean are only separated by one road.

23.  I love how creative some people are at building beach chairs.

24.  I love that I read at least 10 books this summer.

25.  I love Hawaiian tribal tattoos...and father/daughter time at the beach.



26.  I love that Jaden brought only one electronic item so he spent most of his time doing this.


27.  I love Jaden's footprints in the sand.

28.  I love sunsets.

29.  I love island time.
30.  I love that I had the best summer of my life!
